(2015-2016)
SYNOPSIS
RESOLUTIONS (originally Entschlüsse) is a short diary entry written by FRANZ KAFKA in 1911.
In the text and video, the narrator wears a
psychological mask in order to cope with the world around him. But rather than finding a hopeful resolution, he embraces a self-defeating approach towards life. By adapting a hundred year old text to a contemporary form - the short web video - RESOLUTIONS doubles as a short fiction film and a commercial for Franz Kafka. Not an ad meant to sell you something that promises to make you better, happier, or more satisfied. But an ad that argues that self betterment itself is futile; an ad that illustrates the following:
“Theoretically there is a perfect possibility
of happiness: believing in the indestructible
element in oneself and not striving towards it.”
- Franz Kafka
